释义	光州①南朝梁武帝置。治光城县（今河南光山县）。隋大业初改为弋阳郡。唐武德三年（620）复为光州。太极元年（712）移治定城县（明初废，今潢川县）。辖境相当今河南潢川、光山、固始、新县、商城等县地。天宝初改为弋阳郡。乾元初复为光州。南宋绍兴二十八年（1158）因避金太子光瑛讳，改为蒋州。寻复旧。属淮南西路。嘉熙元年（1237）兵乱，徙治金刚台（今商城县东南），寻复还旧治。元、明属汝宁府。明时辖境扩大至今淮北息县。清雍正二年（1724）升为直隶州。属河南省。1913年废，改为潢川县。濒淮河上游，自古为南北兵争重地。南宋于此置榷场，与金贸易。②北魏皇兴四年（470）分青州置。治掖县（今山东莱州市），取界内光水为名。辖境相当今山东胶莱河以东地区。孝文帝在此置东莱镇。隋开皇五年（585）改为莱州。
